Quick facts
75 kW on 480 V to heat workshops, garages and radiant floors
Who the 480 V VoltMax SCR 75 is for
The VoltMax SCR 75 is a commercial electric boiler from Thermo 2000: 75 kW, or 255,900 BTU/h, on 480 V three-phase (manufacturer designation: VOLTMAX SCR 75-480-3 PH). It heats the water in a closed loop and is aimed at owners of commercial or light industrial buildings that already have a 480 V service.
We often suggest it with a radiant floor in mind. A mechanic’s garage in Longueuil, a woodworking shop in Laval, a showroom on the South Shore: these large spaces with high ceilings heat well through the floor, and the boiler can just as easily supply radiators, the coils of an air handling unit or an indirect water heater.
A commercial radiant floor, set to the weather
A radiant floor does not like sudden swings. The outdoor sensor, supplied with the boiler, lets the Schneider Electric controller adjust water temperature to the weather, over a setpoint range of 50 °F to 200 °F. In mild weather, the water stays lukewarm; in deep cold, it rises.
Output follows the same principle. Solid-state relays (SCR) modulate it from 0 to 100%, on top of the relay stages, and the controller rotates its stages. Thermo 2000 points out that this modulation limits peak power, something many commercial building managers keep an eye on. On 480 V three-phase, the manufacturer lists 90.2 A.
The rest is designed to run without much attention: replaceable Incoloy immersion elements, a backlit screen with alarm codes, an Ethernet port with web page and email alarms, and BACnet IP / MS-TP if the building has a management system.
How we install it
We start with a free on-site estimate. We look at the 480 V service, the panel, the mechanical room and, for a radiant floor, the loop and its zones. You then receive a written quote specifying the boiler and what goes with it, including the circulator and expansion tank, which are not on the list Thermo 2000 supplies.
On site, our crews set the 310 lb boiler in place within its clearances (3 in on the sides and back, 24 in in front, 32 in above), connect the piping to the 1 1/2 in NPT connections, and wire the 480 V supply and the outdoor sensor. We fill and purge the loop, then set the temperature curve with you.
Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years. AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, with RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work.
Your workshop, our quote
In Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore or on the South Shore, ask for your free estimate. You will receive a written quote, and financing is available.
Radiant floors and commercial loops on 480 V
A workshop, garage or showroom heated through the floor needs steady, lukewarm water rather than very hot water. The VoltMax SCR 75 sets water temperature from the outdoor sensor and modulates its output from 0 to 100%, on a 480 V three-phase service.

Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for a radiant floor?
Yes, that is one of the uses of a hot-water boiler like this one. The setpoint adjusts from 50 °F to 200 °F and the outdoor sensor sets water temperature to the weather. We set the curve for your floor at commissioning.
Why does SCR modulation matter in a commercial building?
The boiler draws only the power it needs instead of switching its elements on in blocks. Thermo 2000 states that 0 to 100% modulation limits peak power.
What current does it draw on 480 V?
90.2 A on 480 V three-phase, 60 Hz, according to Thermo 2000. We check it at the panel during the free estimate.
What happens if a heating element fails?
The Incoloy immersion elements are replaceable according to Thermo 2000: you change the element, not the boiler. Electrical and mechanical components carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty (parts and accessories).
Can you install it?
Yes. We set the boiler in place, connect it to the floor or emitter loop and the 480 V supply, mount the outdoor sensor, then fill, purge and set up the controller.
