Quick facts
A 144 kW boiler that fits into your building’s management system
Who the 480 V VoltMax SCR 144 is for
In a commercial or industrial building heated with hot water, the boiler is no longer a stand-alone appliance: it has to answer to the building management system, report its alarms and follow a sequence. Thermo 2000’s VoltMax SCR 144 meets those expectations. This 144 kW version, or 491,328 BTU/h, runs on 480 V three-phase and modulates its output from 0 to 100% with solid-state relays.
It is aimed at owners, building managers and mechanical contractors who are replacing a commercial electric boiler or installing a new one to the engineer’s drawings. Workshops, heated warehouses, offices, schools: any building whose loop feeds radiators, hot-water baseboards, a radiant floor or hydro-air coils.
A controller designed for managed buildings
The Schneider Electric controller, with its 3 in backlit display, communicates over BACnet IP and MS-TP. Its Ethernet port opens a web page and sends email alarms, so the manager can follow the boiler without going down to the mechanical room. An external 0-10 Vdc signal can set the setpoint and the output, and the supplied outdoor sensor provides weather compensation. The controller also rotates the stages and can serve an indirect water heater through a second setpoint.
On compliance, Thermo 2000’s specification lists CSA C22.2 No. 165-92 and UL 834, a CSA B-51-14 tank, CRN registration and the ASME Section IV "H" stamp. These references appear in the spec sheet, and your engineer can carry them into the project specification.
480 V and the mechanical room
On 480 V three-phase, the VoltMax SCR 144 draws 173.2 A. The first check is therefore the service voltage: if your building in Laval or on the North Shore is on 600 V, the same boiler comes in that voltage. In the mechanical room, it stays compact: 3 in of clearance on the sides and back, 24 in in front, 32 in above. It holds 30 US gal of water, accepts a setpoint from 50 °F to 200 °F and weighs 550 lb (250 kg).
Installation by AirGreen
The on-site estimate is free. We check the electrical service, the loop and the emitters, then give you a written quote that specifies the circulating pump and the expansion tank, which are not on Thermo 2000’s list of supplied items. Our crews install the boiler, connect the piping and the 480 V circuit, commission it and set up the controller; the BACnet link is coordinated with your building’s integrator.
A family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. For its part, Thermo 2000 warrants the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.

A 144 kW boiler for a building on 480 V
The VoltMax SCR 144 heats the water in a closed heating system and is controlled like any other building system: BACnet, Ethernet, 0-10 Vdc signal. This version is meant for buildings whose three-phase service is 480 V.
- Commercial and industrial buildings on 480 V three-phase power
- Buildings monitored by a BACnet building management system
- Heating with radiators, hot-water baseboards, radiant floors or hydro-air coils
- Indirect water heater for domestic hot water, on the second setpoint

- The circulating pump and expansion tank are not on Thermo 2000’s list of supplied items: they are added to the quote.
- Clearances: 3 in on the sides and back, 24 in in front, 32 in above, none underneath. Weight: 550 lb (250 kg).
- Schneider Electric controller with backlit display
- Outdoor temperature sensor
- On/off control switch
- Control and power fuses and breakers

Frequently asked questions
Can the boiler communicate with our building management system?
Yes. The Schneider Electric controller offers BACnet IP and MS-TP, plus an Ethernet port with a web page and email alarms. Thermo 2000 does not mention Modbus: if your system requires it, let’s talk before ordering.
Can it be driven by an external signal?
Yes, by a 0-10 Vdc signal that sets the temperature setpoint or the output. This is useful when a central controller manages the building’s heating sequence.
Our building is on 600 V: does this version work?
No, this one runs on 480 V three-phase. The VoltMax SCR series also comes in 600 V; we confirm the service voltage during the free estimate.
Which certifications does it carry?
According to Thermo 2000’s specification: CSA C22.2 No. 165-92 and UL 834 (CSA mark for Canada and the United States), CSA B-51-14 tank, CRN registration and ASME Section IV "H" stamp.
What does AirGreen’s installation include?
We set the boiler in place, connect the piping and the 480 V circuit, fill and purge the loop, then set up the controller and the outdoor sensor. The link with the management system is made with your building’s integrator.
