Quick facts
A 60 kW, 480 V electric boiler, documented and certified for your commercial projects
For contractors and designers
When a new commercial building or an addition has a 480 V three-phase supply, the boiler is often chosen on paper, well before anything reaches the site. Thermo 2000’s VoltMax 60 lends itself to that. The manufacturer publishes an engineering specification, a manual and a brochure for the series, and this model delivers 60 kW, or 204,720 BTU/h, for a current of 72.2 A.
It heats the water loop of a commercial or institutional building: radiant floors, radiators, hydro-air coils. A second setpoint can supply an indirect water heater, with or without domestic hot water priority.
What the boiler brings to the project
- Published certifications: CSA C22.2 No. 165-92 and UL 834 (CSA mark for Canada and the U.S.), CSA B-51-14 tank, CRN registration, ASME Section IV “H”.
- Factory-supplied protection: control and power fuses and breakers, two limit controls (automatic and manual), installed relief valve.
- Controls ready for integration: BACnet IP or MS-TP, 0-10 Vdc signal for setpoint or output, Ethernet port with web page and email alarms.
- SCR modulation from 0 to 100% which, according to Thermo 2000, limits peak power demand.
Fitting the boiler into the building
In a new mechanical room, space is tight. The VoltMax is vertical and compact: Thermo 2000 requires 3 in of clearance on the sides and back, 24 in at the front and 32 in above, and it can sit on the floor. It weighs 310 lb (141 kg) and holds 11 US gal of water. Its four 1 1/2 in male NPT side connections tie it into the loop. The outdoor sensor is included and sets water temperature by the weather, between 50 °F and 200 °F (10 °C to 93 °C).
Two items remain to be included in the specification: the circulator and the expansion tank, which are not shipped with the boiler. The low water cut-off, for its part, is an option at 60 kW.
Our role on site
We start with a free estimate, on site or from the plans, followed by a written quote. On site, our technicians install the boiler, connect it to the loop, extend the relief valve discharge, make the electrical connection and mount the outdoor sensor. We fill and purge the system, set up the controller and leave it ready for the management system integrator, where applicable.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.

A boiler to specify in a 480 V commercial project
For a new building or an addition with a 480 V three-phase supply, the VoltMax 60 delivers 60 kW to a hot-water loop. Thermo 2000 publishes an engineering specification, a manual and a brochure for the series, which makes preparing plans and specifications easier.
- New construction of a commercial building heated with hot water
- Expanding an existing building with a 480 V three-phase supply
- Radiant floors, radiators or hydro-air coils
- Buildings connected to a BACnet management system

Frequently asked questions
Which technical documents does the manufacturer publish?
Thermo 2000 publishes an engineering specification, a manual and a brochure for the VoltMax series. You will find them in the Documents section of this page.
What current should be planned for on 480 V?
Thermo 2000 publishes 72.2 A for this 60 kW model on 480 V three phase. We size the protection and conductors from that value, in coordination with the project electrician if there is one.
Is the boiler certified for Canada?
Yes. According to Thermo 2000’s specification, it carries the CSA mark for Canada and the United States (CSA C22.2 No. 165-92 and UL 834). The tank complies with CSA B-51-14, with CRN registration and the ASME Section IV “H” stamp.
What is shipped with the boiler?
The controller, outdoor sensor, control switch, control and power fuses and breakers, SCR relay, two limit controls, the factory-installed relief valve and the drain valve. The circulator and expansion tank must be planned for.
Is the low water cut-off supplied?
Not at 60 kW: Thermo 2000 offers it as an option up to this size and fits it as standard above. We add it to the quote if the project calls for one.
