Quick facts
36 kW on 480 V three phase, in a vertical boiler that fits into an already crowded mechanical room
What the 480 V VoltMax 36 is
Thermo 2000 designs the VoltMax for commercial and institutional buildings heated with water. The series covers 22.5 to 180 kW, on 208 or 240 V single or three phase, and on 480 or 600 V three phase. This 36 kW model, on 480 V three phase, produces 122,832 BTU/h and draws 43.3 A. It is part of configuration A, from 22.5 to 90 kW.
It is intended for workshops, warehouses and commercial spaces supplied at 480 V, where a hot water loop heats a slab, radiators or the coils of ventilation units.
A boiler that takes little room
In many industrial buildings, the mechanical room is already taken up by panels, compressors or ventilation units. The VoltMax’s vertical design takes this into account: Thermo 2000 requires only 3 in of clearance on the sides and at the back, and none at the floor. You only need to keep 24 in clear in front and 32 in above. The unit weighs 310 lb (141 kg) and holds 11 US gal of water.
Inside, replaceable Incoloy immersion elements heat the water. SCR solid-state relays vary the output from 0 to 100%, in addition to relay stages, and Thermo 2000 points out that this modulation limits peak power demand. The manufacturer describes the boiler as quiet, clean and low maintenance.
The Schneider Electric controller has a 3 in backlit screen, alarm codes and an Ethernet port with a web page and email alarms. It communicates over BACnet IP or MS-TP and accepts a 0-10 Vdc signal for setpoint and output. The outdoor sensor is included, to set the water to the weather.
Installation by AirGreen
We start with a free on-site estimate in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore or on the South Shore. We locate the boiler position, the available 480 V circuit and the loop to be served. The written quote includes the circulator and expansion tank selected, which are not among the parts supplied by Thermo 2000.
On installation day, we position the unit, connect it through its 1 1/2 in male NPT connections, pipe the 3/4 in relief valve discharge and mount the outdoor sensor. The electrical connection is made under our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01, which covers ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. We fill the loop, purge it, program the controller and check the modulation under load.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.

36 kW on 480 V for workshops and warehouses
The VoltMax 36 heats the water of a closed loop that feeds radiant floors, radiators or hot water coils. On 480 V, it connects to the building’s three-phase distribution.
- Workshops and warehouses on 480 V three phase
- Heated slabs in commercial and industrial spaces
- Mechanical rooms or mezzanines where space is tight
- Buildings that want a clean, quiet boiler
Specifications
From the manufacturer’s documentation. A value the manufacturer does not publish is not listed.
What to know before installing
- 480 V three-phase, 60 Hz supply on a dedicated circuit (43.3 A); the electrician sizes the protection and conductors.
- In addition to the 3 in on the sides and back, keep 24 in clear in front and 32 in above, as Thermo 2000 requires.
- The circulator and expansion tank are not among the supplied parts: they are chosen for the loop to be served.
- Low water cut-off optional on this size; it becomes standard above 60 kW.
- The VoltMax is aimed at commercial and institutional buildings, not single-family houses.
- Schneider Electric controller with backlit display
- Outdoor temperature sensor
- Control ON/OFF switch
- Control and power fuses and breakers
- SCR relays
- 2 limit controls, one automatic, one manual
- Factory-installed relief valve
- Drain valve

Frequently asked questions
Why choose the 480 V version?
The version is chosen according to the voltage available in the building. On 480 V three phase, this 36 kW model draws 43.3 A, according to Thermo 2000.
Can it heat a workshop slab?
Yes, a radiant floor loop is one of the VoltMax’s uses. The setpoint ranges from 50 °F to 200 °F, and the included outdoor sensor adjusts the water temperature to the weather.
What maintenance does it need?
Thermo 2000 describes it as quiet, clean and low maintenance. Its Incoloy immersion elements are replaceable, and the controller shows alarm codes that guide troubleshooting.
Can it be monitored remotely?
Yes. The controller’s Ethernet port provides a web page and sends alarms by email. The controller also communicates over BACnet IP or MS-TP.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
10 years on the tank (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components, parts and accessories.
