Quick facts
22.5 kW for the homes that demand the most heat
What to know about the SFE2321
The Stelpro SFE2321 produces 22.5 kW at 240 V, the highest output in the SFE series with the 1/3 HP motor. That motor offers four speeds at 0.5 in w.c.: 950, 1,110 and 1,200 CFM wired at the factory, and 900 CFM as an optional speed. The electronic board modulates individually framed elements, with Eco mode, a built-in temperature sensor, continuous heat buttons published at 2.5 kW (min.) and 5 kW (max.) and two manual-reset thermal cut-outs.
A naming detail: the 23 in the model number is a code. Stelpro publishes 22.5 kW, and that is the value that counts for sizing.
Example: an older brick house
In Montreal, some older brick houses lose a lot of heat through the walls and windows. An output this high has to be justified by the home’s heat loss calculation. If that calculation comes to 22.5 kW, the SFE2321 replaces the old furnace on the same ductwork. It installs upflow, set against a wall with zero clearance, horizontal, or downflow with the FSB2 adapter, sold separately.
If you add a central heat pump, Stelpro provides two modes. In Type A, the factory setting, the heat pump is downstream and the elements stay off during its call. In Type B, it is on the return side and the furnace makes up for its loss of capacity when it is very cold. The board also compensates during defrost.
Electricity: an amperage to plan for
Stelpro publishes a total amperage of 96 A at 240 V. That is a significant load for an older electrical panel: we check your electrical service right at the estimate. In a building supplied at 208 V, the output drops to 16.9 kW and the amperage to 84 A. Breaker and conductor sizes are confirmed from the installation manual and the rating plate.
Our installation
AirGreen, a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. After the free estimate and the written quote, our technicians remove the old unit, set and connect the SFE2321, make the electrical connection, choose the motor speed to suit your ductwork and set up the 24 V thermostat with 1 or 2 stages. If the ducts need more air, we will talk to you about the SFE23211HP, with a 1 HP motor. The 20 x 20 x 1 in filter is not supplied.
A free on-site estimate
In Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore or the South Shore, ask for your free estimate. We give you a written quote and present the financing available.
22.5 kW for a home that loses a lot of heat
The SFE2321 has the highest output of the SFE models with the 1/3 HP motor. Its electronic board modulates individually framed elements, and its four speeds range from 900 to 1,200 CFM at 0.5 in w.c.
- Large or older homes whose heat loss calculation comes to 22.5 kW
- Replacing a high-output furnace on existing ductwork
- Pairing with a central heat pump, with the furnace providing backup in deep cold
- Buildings supplied at 208 V, where it delivers 16.9 kW
Specifications
From the manufacturer’s documentation. A value the manufacturer does not publish is not listed.
What to know before installing
- Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Total amperage of 96 A at 240 V (84 A at 208 V): the electrical service is checked before choosing this size. Breaker and conductor sizes are confirmed from the manual and the rating plate.
- At 208 V, the published output drops to 16.9 kW.
- The 900 CFM speed is optional and is not wired at the factory. For higher airflow, Stelpro offers the SFE23211HP, with a 1 HP motor.
- Not included: 20 x 20 x 1 in filter, FSB2 adapter (downflow) and SCOND neutral terminal block.
- Filter frame for a standard 20 x 20 x 1 in air filter (filter not included)

Frequently asked questions
Why 22.5 kW if the model is called SFE2321?
Stelpro publishes 22.5 kW at 240 V and 16.9 kW at 208 V for the SFE2321. The 23 in the model number is a code: the published output is what is used for sizing.
Is my electrical service enough?
Stelpro publishes a total amperage of 96 A at 240 V and 84 A at 208 V. That is a significant load: we check your service and panel during the estimate, then the breaker and conductors from the manual and the rating plate.
Should I go with the 1 HP version instead?
Only if the ductwork or the matched equipment needs more air than the SFE2321’s four speeds provide. In that case, the SFE23211HP offers the same output with a 1 HP motor.
How does it work with a heat pump?
In Type A (factory setting), the heat pump is downstream and the elements do not heat during its call. In Type B, it is on the return side and the furnace makes up for its loss of capacity in cold weather. The board also compensates during defrost.
What warranty does Stelpro offer?
Stelpro warrants the furnace for 5 years from the date of purchase against defects in material or workmanship, for the original purchaser only. Disconnection, transport and installation are not covered by the manufacturer.
