Quick facts
The top of the SFE series: 30 kW, a 1 HP ECM motor and every connection
First, the electrical question
At 30 kW at 240 V, the SFECM3021 draws a total amperage of 130 A according to Stelpro, or 113 A at 208 V, a voltage at which the output drops to 22.5 kW. A project of this size therefore starts with the electrical service: available capacity, room in the panel, then breaker and conductor sizes taken from the installation manual and the rating plate. If the heat loss calculation gives less than 30 kW, we will point you to a smaller SFECM size.
What makes it the most complete model
It brings together the highest output in the series, a variable-speed ECM motor and the 1 HP size, plus the Y2, humidifier and air cleaner terminals specific to the SFECM models. Stelpro points to this motor’s constant airflow and better efficiency. Each mode has its own range, set with 7-position potentiometers: 400 to 1,200 CFM on low continuous fan, 1,200 to 2,000 CFM on high, and up to 2,200 CFM in both heating and cooling.
On the heating side, the elements are individually framed and modulated by the board, which includes an Eco mode, a temperature sensor and two manual-reset thermal cut-outs.
Example: a large new build
Think of a new three-level home on the North Shore, served by a single duct system, with a two-stage central heat pump, a humidifier and an air cleaner. The SFECM3021 becomes the heart of the system: it heats when the demand calls for it, gives the coil the high airflow it needs and takes the accessories on its board.
Depending on where the coil goes, we configure it in Type A, the factory setting, where the elements give way to the heat pump placed downstream, or in Type B, where the furnace supplements a heat pump installed on the return side when the cold reduces its capacity. Either way, the board compensates during defrost.
What our installation includes
AirGreen is a family business from Montreal, active for more than fifteen years and holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. After the free estimate and the written quote, we take care of:
- setting the 48 kg (105 lb) cabinet upflow, horizontal or downflow with the FSB2 adapter, sold separately;
- connecting it to the ducts and, where applicable, to the heat pump coil;
- the electrical connection according to Stelpro’s manual and the rating plate;
- setting each airflow range and configuring the thermostat.
The 20 x 20 x 1 in filter is not supplied: we add it to the quote.
Let’s talk about your build or renovation
For a project in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore or the South Shore, book your free estimate. Detailed written quote and financing available.
30 kW with airflow set for each mode
The SFECM3021 combines the highest output in the series with a 1 HP ECM motor. 7-position potentiometers set the airflow for continuous fan, W1 and W2 heating and Y1 cooling, up to 2,200 CFM.
- Very large homes whose heat loss calculation comes to 30 kW
- Large new builds or major renovations with ductwork
- Two-stage central heat pump whose coil needs high airflow
- Homes equipped with a humidifier or an air cleaner

What to know before installing
- Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Total amperage of 130 A at 240 V (113 A at 208 V): the electrical service’s capacity decides feasibility. Breaker and conductor sizes are confirmed from the installation manual and the rating plate.
- At 208 V, the published output drops to 22.5 kW.
- Each airflow is set during commissioning: the board and its potentiometers must stay accessible.
- 48 kg (105 lb) cabinet. Not included: 20 x 20 x 1 in filter, FSB2 adapter and SCOND neutral terminal block.
- Filter frame for a standard 20 x 20 x 1 in air filter (filter not included)

Frequently asked questions
How is it different from the SFE3021?
The output is the same: 30 kW at 240 V. The SFE3021 has a 1 HP motor with preset speeds. The SFECM3021 has a 1 HP variable-speed ECM motor, set with potentiometers for each mode, and adds the Y2, air cleaner and humidifier terminals.
Which airflows can be set?
Stelpro publishes continuous fan at 400 to 1,200 CFM on low and 1,200 to 2,000 CFM on high. Heating and cooling are adjustable up to 2,200 CFM. We set each range during commissioning, to suit your ductwork.
What electrical service is needed?
Stelpro publishes a total amperage of 130 A at 240 V and 113 A at 208 V. We check your service’s capacity and the room in the panel during the free estimate, then the breaker and conductors from the manual and the rating plate.
Can it be paired with a heat pump?
Yes. In Type A (factory setting), the heat pump is downstream and the elements do not heat during its call. In Type B, it is on the return side and the furnace makes up for its loss of capacity in cold weather. The Y2 terminal accepts two-stage cooling.
What warranty does Stelpro offer?
Stelpro warrants the furnace for 5 years from the date of purchase against defects in material or workmanship, for the original purchaser only. Disconnection, transport and installation are not covered by the manufacturer.
