What sets it apart
The Stelpro SFECM20211HP brings together the series’ two options: the SFECM version, with its variable-speed ECM motor, and the 1 HP motor Stelpro offers from 20 kW up. It produces 20 kW at 240 V with individually framed elements, modulated by an electronic board with Eco mode and a built-in temperature sensor. 7-position potentiometers set the airflow for each mode: continuous fan, W1 and W2 heating, Y1 cooling. Stelpro highlights the constant airflow and better efficiency of its ECM motors.
Who it is for
Picture a very spread-out bungalow on the South Shore, with a full basement and ducts running from one end to the other. The longer the duct system, the harder the blower has to work to deliver air to distant rooms. It is for this kind of house, or for a central heat pump coil that needs high airflow, that Stelpro offers the 1 HP motor. If your ductwork is more compact, the SFECM2021, with a 1/2 HP motor, may be enough: we compare the two on site.
Before ordering, we also confirm the airflow ranges specific to this code from Stelpro’s documentation. The final adjustment is made on site, once the furnace is connected, so that each room gets its share of air.
Heat pump and accessories
With a central heat pump, Stelpro provides two modes. In Type A, the factory setting, the heat pump is downstream and the elements stay off during its call. In Type B, it is on the return side and the furnace makes up for its loss of capacity in cold weather. The board also compensates during defrost. The Y2 terminal accepts two-stage cooling, and two other terminals take a humidifier and an air cleaner.
Electricity and installation
Stelpro publishes a total amperage of 88 A at 240 V and 77 A at 208 V, a voltage at which the output becomes 15 kW. The cabinet weighs 48 kg (105 lb). AirGreen, a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work.
After the free estimate and the written quote, our technicians install the furnace upflow, downflow (FSB2 adapter, sold separately) or horizontal, connect it to the ducts, make the electrical connection according to the manual and the rating plate, then set each airflow. The 20 x 20 x 1 in filter is not supplied.

SFECM20211HP or SFECM2021?
Same 20 kW output and same board. The SFECM20211HP has a 1 HP ECM motor, the SFECM2021 a 1/2 HP motor. The 1 HP is for duct systems that need more air; it also brings the total amperage to 88 A at 240 V.
Can it be paired with a heat pump?
Yes. In Type A (factory setting), the heat pump is downstream and the elements do not heat during its call. In Type B, it is on the return side and the furnace makes up for its loss of capacity in cold weather. The Y2 terminal accepts two-stage cooling.
