Quick facts
27.5 kW of electric heat for very large homes
What the SFE2721 brings
The Stelpro SFE2721 produces 27.5 kW at 240 V, just below the series’ 30 kW model. At this output, the standard motor is a 1 HP unit with three speeds: 1,525, 1,600 and 1,750 CFM at 0.5 in w.c. The electronic board modulates individually framed elements, with Eco mode, a built-in temperature sensor and two manual-reset thermal cut-outs. Its continuous heat buttons go further than on the smaller models: 2.5 kW minimum, 7.5 kW maximum.
The 27 in the model number is a code: Stelpro publishes 27.5 kW, and that is the value used for sizing.
Electricity first
Stelpro publishes a total amperage of 119 A at 240 V. That is a significant load, to be checked before any other decision: electrical service capacity, room in the panel, breaker and conductor sizes according to the installation manual and the rating plate. In a building supplied at 208 V, the output drops to 20.7 kW and the amperage to 104 A. In many homes, this check decides the project: if the electrical service needs an upgrade, it is better to know before ordering the furnace.
Example: a multigenerational home
On the North Shore as in Laval, some families share a large multigenerational home heated by a single duct system. When the heat loss calculation comes to 27.5 kW, the SFE2721 replaces the old furnace in the same spot: upflow against a wall with zero clearance, horizontal, or downflow with the FSB2 adapter, sold separately.
If a central heat pump is added, Stelpro provides Type A (factory setting: heat pump downstream, elements off during its call) and Type B (heat pump on the return side: furnace backup in cold weather), with compensation during defrost.
AirGreen’s installation
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. Our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 covers ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work: the same team handles the ducts and the wiring of this furnace. After a free estimate and a written quote, our technicians remove the old unit, set the SFE2721, which weighs 48 kg (105 lb), connect it to the ducts, make the electrical connection, choose the motor speed to suit your ductwork and set up the 24 V thermostat with 1 or 2 stages. The 20 x 20 x 1 in filter is not supplied.
Ask for an estimate
In Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore or the South Shore, ask for your free estimate. We give you a written quote and present the financing available.
27.5 kW for homes that need a lot of heat
At 27.5 kW at 240 V, the SFE2721 sits just below the series’ 30 kW model. Its 1 HP motor moves 1,525 to 1,750 CFM at 0.5 in w.c., and its board modulates the elements to match the demand.
- Very large homes whose heat loss calculation comes to 27.5 kW
- Multigenerational homes heated by a single duct system
- Replacing a high-output furnace on the same ductwork
- Pairing with a central heat pump, with backup in deep cold
Specifications
From the manufacturer’s documentation. A value the manufacturer does not publish is not listed.
What to know before installing
- Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Total amperage of 119 A at 240 V (104 A at 208 V): the electrical service’s capacity is checked first. Breaker and conductor sizes are confirmed from the installation manual and the rating plate.
- At 208 V, the published output drops to 20.7 kW.
- The cabinet weighs 48 kg (105 lb): access to the mechanical room is checked during the estimate.
- Not included: 20 x 20 x 1 in filter, FSB2 adapter (downflow) and SCOND neutral terminal block.
- Filter frame for a standard 20 x 20 x 1 in air filter (filter not included)

Frequently asked questions
Why 27.5 kW if the model is called SFE2721?
The 27 in the model number is a code. Stelpro publishes 27.5 kW at 240 V and 20.7 kW at 208 V for this model: that is the output used for sizing.
Can my electrical service supply it?
Stelpro publishes a total amperage of 119 A at 240 V and 104 A at 208 V. That is a significant load: we check your service’s capacity and the room in the panel during the free estimate, then the breaker and conductors from the manual and the rating plate.
What is continuous heat for?
The board has continuous heat buttons. For this model, Stelpro publishes 2.5 kW at the minimum setting and 7.5 kW at the maximum setting.
Can it be paired with a heat pump?
Yes. In Type A (factory setting), the heat pump is downstream and the elements do not heat during its call. In Type B, it is on the return side and the furnace makes up for its loss of capacity in cold weather. The board also compensates during defrost.
What warranty does Stelpro offer?
Stelpro warrants the furnace for 5 years from the date of purchase against defects in material or workmanship, for the original purchaser only. Disconnection, transport and installation are not covered by the manufacturer.
