01 · Who makes Venmar

Venmar did not vanish: the brand moved under Broan-NuTone

Three dates from the manufacturer’s own pages, and what we saw on October 13, 2026.

1995Broan acquires Venmar, according to the manufacturer’s “Our brands” page.
2018Broan-NuTone and Venmar Ventilation ULC merge into one company in Canada.
2023June 14 press release: Venmar Ventilation becomes “Broan-NuTone – Venmar”.
2026venmar.ca redirects to broan-nutone.com; among air exchangers, only HRV110 and ERV130 still carry the Venmar name.

Same platform, two letters

The AI and N Series installation guide (code 23831) lists the Venmar AVS “A” models and the vänEE “V” models in pairs: A110H65RT with V110H65RT, A130H65RT with V130H65RT, and so on. Example: the A130H65RT and V130H65RT pages publish the same figures.

An address in Drummondville

Current spec sheets carry the address of Venmar Ventilation ULC, 550 Lemire Blvd, Drummondville. The HRV110 sheet says “Made in Canada”.

What it means for you

Guides and warranty now sit with Broan-NuTone; the guide asks you to go through your ventilation contractor first. A “discontinued” unit does not stop working: it is the manufacturer that no longer makes it.

The Code threshold at -25 °C

The 2012 energy-efficiency rules for small residential buildings require a minimum sensible recovery at -25 °C: 54% under 6,000 degree-days, 60% above. Montréal is under 6,000 according to the RBQ guide. The values below are the ones the manufacturer publishes; its sheets say they are not HVI-certified.

The assistance that really applies to an air exchanger

Rénoclimat: no more amount for an air exchanger

Since October 1, 2026, the new Rénoclimat measures table includes no HRV or ERV. The former $500 only applies to homes already evaluated under the old rules (HVI Section III certification, work between two evaluations, improved EnerGuide rating).

LogisVert: does not cover ventilation

Hydro-Québec’s residential guide (v1.10, September 15, 2026) contains no ventilation measure.

Federal programs

The Greener Homes Grant is closed. The affordability program (CGHAP) names heat pumps, windows, doors and thermostats among others; no air exchanger.

ENERGY STAR

The manufacturer’s pages say “No” for HRV110 and ERV130. For other models we could not confirm it on NRCan’s list, so we make no claim.

Your home was already evaluated under the old Rénoclimat?

The post-work evaluation must be done by March 31, 2027.

My Venmar air exchanger is discontinued: do I need to replace it?

Not for that reason. “Discontinued” means the manufacturer no longer makes it. If it works and its core and filters are maintained, it keeps ventilating the house.

Are Venmar and vänEE the same company?

According to the manufacturer, Venmar Ventilation ULC has represented the Broan, NuTone, BEST, Venmar and vänEE brands in Canada. The AI and N Series guide lists the Venmar “A” and vänEE “V” models in pairs.

Why does venmar.ca send me to broan-nutone.com?

Venmar Ventilation has been called Broan-NuTone – Venmar since the June 14, 2023 press release. The brand’s site is now Broan-NuTone’s.

What do RT and RS at the end of the code mean?

The manufacturer’s pages tie RT and NT to top ports and RS and NS to side ports.

Is the 130 in A130H65RT the airflow?

The manufacturer does not say, and the figures do not match exactly: the V160E75RT gives 140 cfm at 0.2 in., not 160.

HRV or ERV: which one?

An HRV recovers heat from the exhaust air. An ERV also recovers part of the moisture: the ERV130 sheet publishes a moisture transfer of 0.56 at 0 °C. The right choice depends on the house; we look at it with you at the estimate.

What is the warranty on a Venmar?

For the AI and N Series: 5 years on parts, HRV core 10 years and ERV core 5 years per revision X of the guide, labour not covered. HRV110 and ERV130: 1 year, 2 years with online registration. The guide supplied with your unit governs.

Does Rénoclimat still pay for an air exchanger?

Not under the new rules in force since October 1, 2026. The $500 remains possible only for a home already evaluated under the old rules, with the post-work evaluation by March 31, 2027.

Does LogisVert cover an air exchanger?

No. Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert guide (v1.10) contains no ventilation measure.

Are Venmar air exchangers ENERGY STAR?

The manufacturer’s pages say “No” for HRV110 and ERV130. For the other models we did not confirm it on NRCan’s list, so we do not claim it.

Does the Code require an air exchanger?
