Quick facts
18 kW of electric heat that installs wherever your home allows
A furnace that fits your basement
In many homes, it is not the output that complicates a furnace replacement, it is the location: a low ceiling, a narrow mechanical room, ducts that come in from the side. The Dettson Suprême Avantage SUP18-A240D12 solves a good part of these headaches. It installs upflow, as shipped, downflow with the DFB-SUP base depending on the floor, horizontally to the left or to the right, and it can even be suspended.
It is also approved for zero clearance, for mobile homes and for copper or aluminum wiring. For our technicians, that means more room to connect the existing ducts without rebuilding everything around the unit.
What it offers
The furnace delivers 18 kW at 240 V and 13.5 kW at 208 V, or 46,130 BTU/h at 208 V according to Dettson. The first stage provides 9 kW at 240 V. The elements switch on in sequence, quietly, and can be replaced individually. A 1/3 HP direct-drive PSC motor with 3 speeds pushes the air through your ducts: 775 CFM at 0.5 in w.c. for heating, up to 1,150 CFM at maximum. The published temperature rise is 55 to 75 °F at 240 V.
On the front panel, you stay in control: continuous fan, low/high power, heat-demand indicator light and breakers.
Which projects in Quebec
This model suits ducted houses and plexes whose load calculation comes to 18 kW, in Montreal, Longueuil or on the South Shore. It is wired at 240/208 V on two wires, with a 100 A maximum breaker at 240 V. If you want air conditioning next summer or a heat pump later, a coil of up to 3 tons can be added on the supply or return side. With a heat pump, Dettson requires that the elements never heat at the same time as the heat pump; the K03081 interface handles that rule.
How we install
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, with RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. For this furnace, we:
- visit for free and measure the space, since Dettson’s sheet and manual do not give the same width;
- choose the position that best suits your ducts;
- make the electrical connection and the duct connections;
- commission the unit and check the temperature rise.
Dettson covers parts for 5 years in residential use. Our teams also cover Laval and the North Shore.

An 18 kW furnace that adapts to the location
The SUP18-A240D12 goes wherever your home allows: upflow or downflow, horizontal or suspended. Its electric elements switch on in sequence and a 1/3 HP PSC motor distributes the air through the ducts.
- Replacing a furnace in a mechanical room where height is tight, in the horizontal position
- Ducted houses and plexes that need 18 kW according to the load calculation
- Adding an air-conditioning or heat-pump coil of up to 3 tons
- 240 V two-wire circuits; three wires possible with accessories
Specifications
From the manufacturer’s documentation. A value the manufacturer does not publish is not listed.
What to know before installing
- Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Dedicated circuit: 100 A maximum breaker at 240 V (90 A at 208 V) and 95.1 A ampacity at 240 V according to Dettson.
- Plan for 36 1/2 in of height and 22 in of depth. Dettson’s sheet and manual do not give the same width or return opening: we measure them before installation.
- With a heat pump, the elements and the heat pump must never heat at the same time (overheating risk according to Dettson): a thermostat or the K03081 interface must prevent it.
- The air-conditioning or heat-pump coil is not included; it goes on the supply or return side.
- In downflow, the DFB-SUP base may be required depending on the type of floor.

Frequently asked questions
How much space should I plan for?
Dettson publishes a height of 36 1/2 in, a depth of 22 in and a 20 x 20 in supply opening. The width and the return opening differ between the sheet and the manual, so we measure them before confirming the location.
Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes, to the left or right, and it can also be suspended. It also installs upflow, its factory configuration, or downflow with the DFB-SUP base depending on the floor.
What electrical circuit does it need?
A 240/208 V single-phase 2-wire supply, with a 100 A maximum breaker at 240 V (90 A at 208 V). Dettson lists a 95.1 A ampacity at 240 V.
Can I pair it with a heat pump?
Yes, with a coil of up to 3 tons on the supply or return side. The elements then act as backup and must never heat at the same time as the heat pump: the thermostat or the K03081 interface handles that.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No. Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump and does not qualify for this grant.
