Quick facts
A 25 kW electric furnace built for large air-conditioned homes
Heating and cooling, one installation
In a large multi-storey home, electric heat has to be generous and air conditioning has to cool every level. The Dettson Suprême Avantage SUP25-A120D20 checks both boxes: its elements deliver 25 kW at 240 V (18.8 kW at 208 V), and Dettson accepts it with an air conditioner or heat pump coil of up to 5 tons, on the supply or return side. The blower is a 4-speed, 1 HP direct-drive PSC motor with a 12 x 9 wheel.
For heating, Dettson publishes a temperature rise of 54 to 65°F at 240 V. The elements come on in sequence, quietly, and the first stage delivers 15 kW.
The electrical figures to plan for
A furnace this size is planned starting from the panel. This model runs on a 3-wire 120–240/208 V supply, with a total current of 115.0 A at 240 V and an ampacity of 138.6 A. Dettson lists a maximum breaker of 150 A at 240 V and 125 A at 208 V. If your electrical service cannot take this dedicated circuit, we tell you at the estimate, before anything is ordered.
Heat pump, placement and service
With a heat pump, Dettson’s rule is clear: the elements and the heat pump never heat at the same time, otherwise there would be overheating. The thermostat or a manufacturer accessory alternates them, and the K03081 heat pump interface kit is provided. The heat pump does the work as long as it is enough; the elements then take over.
The furnace installs upflow, downflow (on the DFB-SUP base if the floor is combustible) or horizontal, and can be suspended. It is approved for zero clearance, mobile homes and copper or aluminum wire. On the front are the breakers, the continuous-fan switch, the low/high power switch and the heat-demand light; the elements can be replaced one by one. Dettson covers parts for 5 years in residential use (1 year in commercial use); labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
How AirGreen goes about it
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work.
- Free on-site estimate: heating and cooling needs, ducts, electrical panel.
- Written quote, including the heat pump or air conditioner where applicable.
- Installation, connection to the ducts and the dedicated circuit.
- Commissioning, blower speed setting and a check of the temperature rise.
An electric furnace sold alone is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
We install in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore. Ask for your free estimate and written quote; financing is available.
Electric heat and large-capacity cooling, in one unit
The SUP25-A120D20 provides 25 kW of electric elements and a 1 HP PSC blower. Dettson accepts it with an air conditioner or heat pump coil of up to 5 tons, on the supply or return side.
- Large multi-storey homes with electric heat and air conditioning
- Replacing a high-output furnace while keeping the ducts
- Pairing with a high-capacity central heat pump, in alternation
- 3-wire electrical services (120–240/208 V) that can take a 150 A breaker
Specifications

What to know before installing
- Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Total current of 115.0 A at 240 V (99.6 A at 208 V), ampacity of 138.6 A (120.4 A at 208 V), maximum breaker of 150 A at 240 V and 125 A at 208 V.
- 3-wire 120–240/208 V supply, on a dedicated circuit.
- With a heat pump, Dettson does not allow simultaneous operation of the elements and the heat pump (overheating): the thermostat or an accessory must alternate them; interface kit K03081.
- For downflow on a combustible floor, the furnace sits on the DFB-SUP base.

Frequently asked questions
Is my electrical panel big enough?
That is the first question to settle. Dettson lists a total current of 115.0 A at 240 V, an ampacity of 138.6 A and a 150 A maximum breaker (125 A at 208 V). We check your electrical service during the free estimate, before confirming this model.
How much cooling can it take?
Up to 5 tons according to Dettson, with the coil on the supply or return side. The capacity installed depends on your home’s calculation.
Can it be paired with a heat pump?
Yes, in alternation. Dettson does not allow the elements and the heat pump to heat at the same time, because this would cause overheating. The thermostat or an accessory manages the alternation; the K03081 interface kit is provided.
Where can it be installed?
In the basement, a mechanical closet or horizontally: Dettson approves it for upflow, downflow and horizontal, left or right, suspended if needed, with zero clearance.
What warranty does Dettson offer?
Parts for 5 years in residential use and 1 year in commercial use. Labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
