Quick facts
A 30 kW furnace that adapts to the space, right up to the basement ceiling
What you are installing
The Dettson Suprême Avantage SUP30-A240D20 is an electric furnace with elements rated 30 kW at 240 V. In a building supplied at 208 V, it delivers 22.5 kW, or 76,884 BTU/h. It connects at 240/208 V single-phase, 2-wire, with the option of a 3-wire connection for 120–208/240 V using accessories. Its blower is driven directly by a 1 HP four-speed PSC motor: 1,275 CFM in heating at the factory-set speed, and a published maximum airflow of 2,030 CFM, both at 0.5 in w.c.
This size is meant for homes with high heating needs. We always confirm it through an assessment during the free in-home estimate.
Freeing up basement space
In many Montreal duplexes or Longueuil homes, basement space is precious. The SUP30-A240D20 is multi-position: upflow as configured at the factory, downflow, horizontal to the left or right, and Dettson allows it to be suspended. A horizontal installation suspended from the ceiling frees the floor for a workshop, storage or a finished room. Approved for zero clearance, it is 36 1/2 in high and 22 in deep, and weighs 105 lb; for downflow on a combustible floor, it sits on the DFB-SUP base.
Electrical, airflow and air conditioning
This model needs two circuits: a breaker of no more than 60 A for terminal block 1, at both 240 V and 208 V, and one of no more than 100 A for block 2 at 240 V (90 A at 208 V). The published total current is 130.2 A at 240 V. Copper and aluminum wire are both approved, and the breakers are mounted on the front panel along with a continuous fan switch, a low/high power switch and a heat-demand indicator light.
For air conditioning, Dettson allows a coil of up to 5 tons, on the supply or return side. With a heat pump, the elements and the heat pump must not run at the same time, otherwise there would be overheating according to Dettson: the system must be non-simultaneous, and the K03081 interface kit is provided for this.
Our installation, step by step

- Free in-home estimate: heating needs, electrical service, choice of position.
- Setting the furnace in place, on the floor or suspended, and connecting the plenum to the 20 x 20 in supply opening.
- Connecting the two circuits using the breaker sizes Dettson publishes.
- Commissioning: setting the motor speed and checking the temperature rise, published at 60 to 80 °F at 240 V.
We serve Laval, the North Shore, the South Shore and all of Greater Montreal.

A 30 kW furnace that fits where there is room
The SUP30-A240D20 delivers 30 kW at 240 V. Being multi-position, it can stand vertically or lie horizontally, on the floor or suspended, and its 1 HP four-speed PSC motor provides a published maximum airflow of 2,030 CFM at 0.5 in w.c.
- Large homes whose heating-needs assessment confirms a 30 kW size
- Basements where floor space needs to be freed: horizontal or suspended installation
- Replacing an electric furnace supplied at 240/208 V, 2-wire
- Projects that plan for a central air conditioner or heat pump of up to 5 tons

What to know before installing
- 240/208 V single-phase, 60 Hz, 2-wire power supply (3-wire connection possible for 120–208/240 V with accessories).
- Two supply circuits: terminal block 1, breaker of no more than 60 A at both 240 V and 208 V; terminal block 2, breaker of no more than 100 A at 240 V (90 A at 208 V).
- Ampacity calculated per CSA C22.2-236: 58.2 A and 98.4 A at 240 V; 50.7 A and 85.2 A at 208 V. Total current of 130.2 A at 240 V.
- With a heat pump, running the elements and the heat pump at the same time is prohibited, as it would cause overheating according to Dettson: a non-simultaneous system is mandatory; K03081 interface kit.
- For downflow on a combustible floor, the furnace sits on the DFB-SUP base.
- The furnace alone is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.

Frequently asked questions
Can it be suspended from the basement ceiling?
Yes. Dettson allows suspended installation, in addition to the upflow, downflow and horizontal (left or right) positions. We check the structure and the service access before choosing this option.
What temperature rise should I expect?
Dettson publishes 60 to 80 °F at 240 V for this model. We measure it at commissioning and adjust the blower speed if needed.
Which breakers are needed?
Two: no more than 60 A for block 1, at both 240 V and 208 V, and no more than 100 A for block 2 at 240 V (90 A at 208 V). We check the electrical service and the panel during the estimate.
Can I add air conditioning later?
Yes. Dettson allows a coil of up to 5 tons, on the supply or return side, and publishes a maximum airflow of 2,030 CFM. With a heat pump, the system must be non-simultaneous; the K03081 interface kit is provided for this.
Does this furnace qualify for a grant?
No. Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert grant does not apply to an electric furnace sold on its own, which is not a heat pump.
