Quick facts
25 kW of electric heat for homes that need a lot of it
Output designed for heating
Some homes need a lot of heat: a large living area, high ceilings, original insulation, or simply a calculation that calls for it. The Dettson Suprême Avantage SUP25-A120D12 meets that need with 25 kW at 240 V, or 18.8 kW (64,070 BTU/h) at 208 V. Its elements come on in sequence, quietly, and the first stage delivers 15 kW at 240 V.
Its blower is a 4-speed, 1/3 HP direct-drive PSC motor that moves 1,150 CFM at high speed (factory setting) at 0.5 in w.c. Dettson publishes a temperature rise of 70 to 85°F at 240 V for this model: the air leaves the registers noticeably warmer than the air returning to the furnace. For cooling, the coil can go up to 3 tons, on the supply or return side. It is therefore a furnace for a home that heats a lot and cools moderately.
First of all: the electrical service
At this output, the panel is the first thing to confirm. The SUP25-A120D12 runs on a 3-wire 120–240/208 V supply. Dettson lists a total current of 110.4 A and a maximum breaker of 150 A at 240 V (125 A at 208 V). During the free estimate, we check that your electrical service can take this dedicated circuit before suggesting this model.
Day to day and with a heat pump
Like the whole Avantage series, it groups the continuous-fan switch, the low/high power switch, the heat-demand light and the breakers on the front. The elements can be replaced one by one. It installs upflow, downflow or horizontal, can be suspended and is approved for zero clearance and mobile homes.
If a heat pump is added, Dettson does not allow the elements and the heat pump to heat at the same time, because this would cause overheating; the thermostat or an accessory alternates them, and the K03081 interface kit is provided. Dettson covers parts for 5 years in residential use and 1 year in commercial use; labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
Installation by AirGreen
A family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. After the free estimate and the written quote, our technicians install the furnace, connect it to the ducts and the dedicated circuit, set the blower speed, measure the temperature rise and explain the front-panel controls.
An electric furnace sold alone is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
For a home in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore or the South Shore, ask for your free estimate. You receive a written quote, and financing is available.
Plenty of heat, modest cooling
The SUP25-A120D12 delivers 25 kW at 240 V with elements that come on in sequence and a 1/3 HP PSC blower. Its published temperature rise of 70 to 85°F and its 3-ton maximum cooling make it a fit for homes that heat a lot and cool little.
- Homes whose heating calculation reaches 25 kW
- Replacing an old high-output furnace
- Supplementary central air conditioning up to 3 tons
- 3-wire electrical services (120–240/208 V)
- Mobile homes and zero-clearance installations

What to know before installing
- Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Maximum breaker of 150 A at 240 V (125 A at 208 V), total current of 110.4 A and ampacity of 133.1 A at 240 V: panel capacity is confirmed before purchase.
- 3-wire 120–240/208 V supply.
- Maximum cooling of 3 tons; coil on the supply or return side.
- With a heat pump, Dettson does not allow the elements and the heat pump to heat at the same time (overheating): a thermostat or an accessory must alternate them; interface kit K03081.

Frequently asked questions
What does a 70 to 85°F temperature rise mean?
It is the difference Dettson publishes, at 240 V, between the air returning to the furnace and the air it blows into the ducts. We measure it at commissioning to confirm the blower speed is set correctly.
What breaker is needed for 25 kW?
Dettson lists a maximum breaker of 150 A at 240 V and 125 A at 208 V. Total current is 110.4 A at 240 V. Your panel must be able to take this dedicated circuit; we check it during the estimate.
Can I add an air conditioner?
Yes, up to 3 tons according to Dettson, with the coil on the supply or return side.
Does it work with a heat pump?
Yes, in alternation: Dettson does not allow the elements and the heat pump to run at the same time, which would cause overheating. The manufacturer provides the K03081 heat pump interface kit.
What is Dettson’s warranty?
Parts for 5 years in residential use and 1 year in commercial use. Labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
