10 Mini-GMV listings on 2 outdoor units, the GMV-36WL/B-T(U) and the GMV-48WL/B-T(U). The indoor units branch off one piping network, through Y-branches or branch headers, and the outdoor unit modulates its output to the demand. GREE Comfort, in the United States, has archived these two models; GREE Canada now sells another Mini-GMV. Supply and the Canadian warranty are therefore confirmed at the quote.

How many units, how much total capacity? Two GREE documents, two answers.

On a VRF, two rules decide: the number of indoor units, and the sum of their capacity codes compared with the outdoor unit. The 2021 submittal and the 2017 sales guide do not set the same limits: the checker shows both.

For these two outdoor units, we found documents only at GREE Comfort, in the United States. When two of its documents differ, this page shows both, with their dates.

208/230 V, 60 Hz, single phase: MCA 37 A, maximum overcurrent protection 50 A, compressor rated load amps 28 A. Same values on the 36,000 and the 48,000.

6.5 kg (229.3 oz) of R410A from the factory in both units. Connections of 5/8 in (gas) and 3/8 in (liquid), on one branched piping network.

Ducted / non-ducted: SEER 16.5 / 20.5, EER 11.3 / 13 and HSPF 10.3 / 11.7 for the 36,000; SEER 16.5 / 20, EER 9.5 / 12.5 and HSPF 10.2 / 11 for the 48,000. No NEEP or ENERGY STAR record carries them today.

Outdoor unit below the indoor units: 40 m (131 ft) in the 2017 guide, 134 ft in the 2023 catalogue for the 36,000. The “Distances” tool applies 40 m.

Units, distances, grants: your questions on the GREE VRF.

How many indoor units can one outdoor unit run?
From 2 to 5 on the GMV-36WL/B-T(U). On the GMV-48WL/B-T(U), the 2021 submittal allows 7 and the 2017 sales guide gives 6. Both documents are GREE’s: the checker at the top of the page shows both limits.
How much total indoor capacity can be connected?
You add up the units’ capacity codes; for the wall units on our product sheets, the sales guide’s table gives 7,500 to 24,000 BTU/h of cooling. The 2021 submittals allow 50 to 135% of the outdoor unit, the 2017 sales guide 50 to 100%. On the 36,000, our arithmetic gives 18,000 to 48,600 BTU/h per the submittals, or 18,000 to 36,000 per the guide.
What distances are allowed?
Per the 2017 sales guide: 300 m of liquid line in total, 120 m of real pipe (150 equivalent metres) to the farthest unit, 40 equivalent metres past the first branch, 50 m of height difference with the outdoor unit above, 40 m with it below, and 15 m between two indoor units.
Is there a grant for this VRF?
No LogisVert: the guide requires a complete ENERGY STAR certified system, and AHRI numbers 8654208 and 8654211 are not on ENERGY STAR, NEEP or Hydro-Québec’s list of Oct. 27, 2026. The Canada Greener Homes Grant is closed: applications ended Sept. 30, 2025.
Does it heat through a cold snap?
GREE publishes a heating range down to −30 °C, and its sales guide claims continuous heating down to −25 °C. No NEEP record certifies the cold-weather capacity of these two models, though, and the 2023 catalogue gives them a COP of 1.50 at −15 °C. So backup heat gets planned at the visit.
Are these two models still offered in Canada?
GREE Comfort, in the United States, has moved their documents to its archive, and GREE Canada now sells another Mini-GMV, the Ultra Heat GMV6 Mini. Supply of these two models and the warranty that applies in Canada are confirmed at the quote.
