Quick facts
Two 5 kW stages on a 60 A circuit: central electric heat in a compact package
Who it suits: small houses, condos and units with ductwork
The Conforto KHE-02-G010-03 is the smallest 2nd-generation Hiboy electric furnace. It produces 10 kW, or 34,140 BTU/h at 240 V, and splits that heat into two 5 kW stages. Its 1/3 HP three-speed PSC motor pushes air through existing ductwork. It is mostly found in well-insulated bungalows, condos with ducts and units in a plex, where heating needs stay modest.
The Hiboy cabinet is multiposition. It stands upright in a mechanical closet, runs in downflow or lies on its right side, with a 20 x 21 in footprint. That flexibility helps a great deal when replacing an old furnace in a space that was never designed for a modern unit.
A unit that is easy on your electrical panel
In many homes in Montreal and on the South Shore, the question is not only heat, but how much room is left in the panel. Conforto lists a 60 A minimum circuit ampacity for this model, a breaker of no more than 60 A and 4 AWG wire. It is the smallest circuit in the series, and that is often what makes central electric heat possible without upgrading the service.
The ComfortMax function analyzes each cycle and modulates the elements: fewer short cycles and a steadier temperature. With a single-stage thermostat, it decides when to bring in the second element.
Cooling, now or later
The furnace accepts a central air conditioner or heat pump coil of up to 3 tons, on the supply plenum or the return. DIP switch 3 tells the control where it is. With a heat pump, the elements become the backup heat, and the control turns one or more of them on during defrost so the supply air stays comfortable. Note that a furnace sold alone is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.

We work in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and on the South Shore.
For simple, well-sized central electric heat, ask for your free estimate. You receive a clear written quote, and AirGreen’s financing lets you spread the cost of the project.
Central electric heat for a small house or unit
The KHE-02-G010-03 heats air in two 5 kW stages and distributes it through the ducts with a 3-speed PSC motor. Its Hiboy cabinet installs upright, in downflow, or lying on its right side.
- Houses, condos and units with ductwork and modest heating needs
- Replacing an old furnace in a mechanical closet or a basement
- Projects that later add central air conditioning or a heat pump of up to 3 tons
- Electrical panels where the circuit must stay at 60 A

What to know before installing
- 240 V, 60 Hz, single-phase power supply: plan a dedicated circuit with a breaker of no more than 60 A and 4 AWG wire, per the manual.
- Horizontally, only the right side is allowed: the manual prohibits the left side and installation on the front or back.
- In downflow on a combustible floor, Conforto requires a non-combustible base under the furnace.
- If you add a coil, DIP switch 3 is set according to its location (supply or return).
- Sold alone, the furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- 1 disposable 20 x 20 x 1 in filter

Frequently asked questions
What electrical circuit does this furnace need?
Conforto calls for a 240 V single-phase circuit with a 60 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 60 A and 4 AWG wire. During the estimate, we check that your panel can take this circuit.
Can a central air conditioner or a heat pump be added?
Yes. The furnace accepts a coil of up to 3 tons, on the supply plenum or the return; DIP switch 3 tells the control where it is. With a heat pump, the elements become the backup heat and come on during defrost.
Is my smart thermostat compatible?
Conforto lists it as compatible with smart thermostats. The manual calls for a 1 or 2 stage, 24 VAC thermostat (terminals G, W1, W2, R, Y1, Y2 and C). With a single-stage thermostat, ComfortMax manages both element stages.
Can it be installed lying down?
Yes, horizontally on the right side only. The manual prohibits the left side and installation on the front or back. It also installs in upflow or downflow.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not sold alone: an electric furnace is not a heat pump. If your project includes a central heat pump, we discuss it during the estimate.
