Quick facts
18 kW, an ECM motor and horizontal installation: a Hiboy that adapts to your space
A lot of output in a small cabinet
The Conforto KHE-02-G018-H3 produces 18 kW, or 61,460 BTU/h at 240 V, in a Hiboy cabinet of only 20 x 21 in, the same as the smallest sizes in the series. Its four elements of 5, 4, 5 and 4 kW are split into two stages: 9 kW on the first, 18 kW on the second. It is aimed at homes with high heating needs but limited mechanical space.
The 1/2 HP Ecotech ECM motor, with five speeds, completes the picture. Conforto publishes an airflow of 600 CFM at MED-LOW speed, at 0.5 in of water column, and up to 1,275 CFM at HIGH speed, at 0.2 in. At the factory, the heating speed is set to MED; we confirm or change it after measuring the pressure in your ducts.
Upright, downflow or lying down
That is the great advantage of the multiposition Hiboy format. In a basement, the furnace stands upright, in upflow. In a closet feeding ducts under the floor, it installs in downflow, with a non-combustible base if the floor is combustible. And when the height allows neither, it lies horizontally, on the right side only: the manual prohibits the left side as well as installation on the front or back. In every case, we leave the access needed for maintenance and for changing the 20 x 20 x 1 in filter.
Electrical, cooling and heat pump backup
An 18 kW furnace needs a serious circuit: 100 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 100 A and 3 AWG wire, according to Conforto. A review of the electrical service is part of our estimate.
The furnace accepts an air conditioner or heat pump coil of up to 3 tons, with DIP switch 3 set according to its location. With a heat pump, the elements become the backup and the control turns them on during defrost. Sold alone, it is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.

An 18 kW Hiboy that adapts to the available space
The KHE-02-G018-H3 heats air with four elements split into two stages, 9 kW then 18 kW. Its 5-speed ECM motor moves the air, and its cabinet installs upright, in downflow or lying on its right side.
- Homes with high heating needs and ductwork
- Mechanical spaces where the furnace must lie horizontally
- Replacing an old furnace with an electric model with an ECM motor
- Projects that will add a heat pump or air conditioner of up to 3 tons

Frequently asked questions
Can it be installed lying down?
Yes, horizontally on the right side only. The manual prohibits the left side and installation on the front or back. We also check that the location leaves the access needed for maintenance.
What speed does the motor run at in heating?
Conforto sets it at the factory to MED, for 0.5 in w.c. The ECM motor offers five speeds, from 600 CFM (MED-LOW at 0.5 in w.c.) to 1,275 CFM (HIGH at 0.2 in w.c.); we choose the speed after measuring the pressure in your ducts.
What electrical circuit does it need?
A 240 V single-phase circuit with a 100 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 100 A and 3 AWG wire, according to Conforto. We review your electrical service before recommending this model.
What if I add a heat pump later?
The furnace accepts a coil of up to 3 tons, set through DIP switch 3. The elements then become the backup, and the control turns one or more of them on during defrost.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not sold alone: an electric furnace is not a heat pump.
