Quick facts
A 15 kW Lowboy with an ECM motor, for airflow tuned to your home
Who it suits: homes with a Lowboy, and people who care about comfort
The Conforto KLE-02-G015-H3 is an electric element furnace in the Lowboy format, installed in upflow, in a cabinet of 21 1/2 x 44 in and 34 1/2 in high. It produces 15 kW, or 51,216 BTU/h at 240 V, with three 5 kW elements in two stages: 10 kW, then 15 kW. It replaces a furnace of the same format in a house whose ducts were laid out for a Lowboy.
What sets it apart is its 1/2 HP Ecotech ECM motor with five speeds. For a family that spends its evenings in a finished basement, or for ductwork with unusual pressure, this motor gives more room to set the total airflow.
Five speeds: what it changes in practice
Conforto publishes a complete airflow table. At 0.5 in of water column, MED-LOW speed gives 600 CFM, MEDIUM 825, MED-HIGH 975 and HIGH 1,200 CFM. At the factory, the heating speed is set to M-LOW. At commissioning, we measure the actual pressure in your ducts and choose the right speed, rather than leaving the default setting.
The QuietComfort function preheats recirculated air at low energy to even out the step from one stage to the next, and ComfortMax modulates the elements to limit short cycles. A 24 VAC output also allows a central humidifier to be connected, useful when dry winter air makes itself felt in Laval as on the South Shore.
Ready for summer and for a heat pump
The furnace accepts an air conditioner or heat pump coil of up to 3 tons, on the supply plenum or the return according to the DIP switch 3 setting. With a heat pump, the elements become the backup and come on during defrost. Sold alone, the furnace is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
On the electrical side, Conforto calls for a 240 V single-phase circuit with an 85 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 90 A and 4 AWG wire.

Frequently asked questions
What speed does the motor run at in heating?
Conforto sets the heating speed at the factory to M-LOW, for 0.5 in w.c. We measure the actual pressure in your ducts at commissioning and change the speed if needed.
Can a central humidifier be connected?
Yes. The furnace has a 24 VAC connection for accessories such as a central humidifier.
Does it work with a smart thermostat?
Yes, Conforto lists it as compatible with smart thermostats. The manual calls for a 1 or 2 stage, 24 VAC thermostat, with terminals G, W1, W2, R, Y1, Y2 and C.
How much space should be planned?
The cabinet is 21 1/2 in wide, 44 in deep and 34 1/2 in high, and it installs in upflow only. Add the service clearance in the manual.
