Quick facts
23 kW of electric heat that adapts to your space, not the other way around
A multiposition Hiboy, for whom?
Not every furnace goes into a large, open basement. In a narrow mechanical room, a utility closet or a home where the ducts run under the floor, the position of the unit changes everything. The Conforto KHE-02-G023-03 was designed for those cases. It is a 23 kW Hiboy electric furnace, or 78,530 BTU/h according to Conforto, that takes up only 20 in of width by 21 in of depth.
It appeals as much to the homeowner replacing a tall furnace as to the one reorganizing a mechanical room and wanting to win back space.
Three ways to install it
According to Conforto’s manual, the KHE accepts three positions:
- upflow, the classic basement setup, with warm air leaving upward;
- downflow, when the ductwork is below the unit, with a non-combustible base mandatory on a combustible floor;
- horizontal on the right side, when the available height is limited.
Horizontal on the left side and installation on the front or back are not allowed. We confirm the position during the visit, before ordering.
How it heats a home around here
The five elements, rated 5 and 4 kW, come on in stages. A 15 kW first stage is enough most of the time, then the rest is added as demand rises. The ComfortMax control modulates the elements every cycle and QuietComfort pre-warms recirculated air at low energy. The 10 x 8 in blower, with a 1/3 HP PSC motor, is factory set to HIGH for heating.
If you add a central air conditioner or heat pump one day, the furnace accepts a coil up to 3.0 tons, on the supply or the return side. With a heat pump, the elements become the backup and come on during defrost.

In which positions can it be installed?
Upflow, downflow or horizontal on the right side. Conforto’s manual does not allow horizontal on the left side or installation on the front or back.
What does a downflow installation require?
On a combustible floor, Conforto requires a non-combustible base under the furnace. We include it in the quote when that is the case.
How much room does it need?
The cabinet is 20 in wide and 21 in deep. We confirm the exact height and the service clearances during the visit, before planning the installation.
What electrical hookup is needed?
A 240 V single-phase supply, with a 94 A total current, a 125 A minimum circuit ampacity, a 125 A maximum breaker and 2 AWG wire.
Can air conditioning be added?
Yes, with a coil up to 3.0 tons, on the supply or the return side depending on the DIP switch 3 setting.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No. Sold alone, an electric furnace does not qualify.
