Quick facts
A 15 kW Lowboy furnace, protected against power surges and brownouts
Replacing a Lowboy, in a 15 kW version
When a Lowboy furnace reaches the end of its life, the simplest route is often to replace it with a unit of the same upflow format, connected to the same ducts. The Conforto KLE-02-G015-03 fills that role for homes that need more than a 10 kW model. It produces 15 kW, or 51,216 BTU/h at 240 V, with three 5 kW elements: the first stage brings in 10 kW, the second raises output to 15 kW. A 1/3 HP three-speed PSC motor distributes the air.
It is found in single-family houses, but also in plex units in Montreal where each unit has its own furnace and its own ductwork.
What protects the unit and eases service
The 2nd generation of Conforto furnaces focuses on a sturdy electrical section. The elements are staged and controlled by heavy-duty relays. Redundant high limits watch the temperature, and the control board includes surge and brownout protection, with a replaceable fuse. If something goes wrong, LED diagnostics tell the technician where to start, and the programmable DIP switches let the operation be adapted to the installation.
The cabinet is fully insulated, and the 24 VAC connection accepts accessories such as a central humidifier.
What to plan at the panel and on the floor
Conforto calls for a dedicated 240 V single-phase circuit with an 85 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 90 A and 4 AWG wire. On the floor, the cabinet takes 21 1/2 in of width by 44 in of depth, for 34 1/2 in of height, and it installs in upflow only. We check both points, the panel and the space, during the estimate.
For summer, the furnace accepts an air conditioner or heat pump coil of up to 3 tons, set through DIP switch 3. Sold alone, it is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
A complete installation by AirGreen
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. We set the furnace, connect it to the ducts, run the 240 V circuit and hook up the thermostat. At commissioning, we measure the temperature rise, which Conforto puts between 45 and 60 °F for this model, and set the motor speed accordingly.
We serve Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore.

Frequently asked questions
How does the furnace handle voltage variations?
Conforto builds in surge and brownout protection, redundant high limits and a control board with a replaceable fuse.
How is a fault spotted?
The control board reports its status through LED diagnostics. During a service call, our technicians read it before doing anything else.
Can it be installed other than in upflow?
No. The manual states that the Lowboy installs in upflow only. For another position, you need a KHE Hiboy, which is multiposition.
What electrical circuit does it need?
A 240 V single-phase circuit, with an 85 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 90 A and 4 AWG wire, according to Conforto.
What temperature rise should it reach?
Conforto publishes a rise of 45 to 60 °F for this model. We measure it at commissioning and adjust the motor speed if needed.
