Quick facts
A 10 kW electric Lowboy whose every dimension you know before installation day
What it is, and who it suits
The Conforto KLE-02-G010-03 is an electric element furnace in the Lowboy format, the low version of the line, installed in upflow. It produces 10 kW, or 34,140 BTU/h at 240 V, in two 5 kW stages, and a 1/3 HP three-speed PSC motor distributes the warm air through the ducts.
It suits homeowners replacing an old Lowboy furnace first and foremost, where the ducts were laid out for that format: a bungalow in Laval, a semi-detached house on the North Shore, a unit in a plex. Its electrical needs are the lightest in the series, which often simplifies the connection to the existing panel.
Planning the space without surprises
Conforto publishes all three cabinet dimensions: 21 1/2 in wide, 44 in deep and 34 1/2 in high. The Lowboy therefore takes more floor space than a Hiboy, while staying low. Before ordering, we measure the location, the access and the service clearance required by the manual. The furnace weighs 110 lb (50 kg) shipped, a weight we plan for when handling it on the stairs.
The warm air plenum is 20 x 20 in and the return opening 18 1/2 x 18 1/2 in. Existing connections are adapted with transitions where needed, which we confirm on site.
With a heat pump, it becomes the backup heat
If you plan to add a central heat pump in a few years, this model lends itself to that: it accepts an air conditioner or heat pump coil of up to 3 tons, on the supply plenum or the return according to the DIP switch 3 setting. In heat pump mode, the elements take over in severe cold and during defrost. The QuietComfort function preheats recirculated air at low energy to smooth the step from one stage to the next.
A useful point: sold alone, the furnace is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.

Frequently asked questions
How much space should be planned?
The cabinet is 21 1/2 in wide, 44 in deep and 34 1/2 in high. Add the service clearance required in Conforto’s manual: we measure it on site during the estimate.
Can it lie down or be installed in downflow?
No. Conforto states that the Lowboy installs in upflow only. For a horizontal or downflow installation, you need a KHE Hiboy furnace, which is multiposition.
What happens during heat pump defrost?
The furnace control turns on one or more electric elements during defrost, according to the DIP switch 3 setting.
Can a central humidifier be connected?
Yes. The furnace has a 24 VAC connection for accessories such as a central humidifier.
What breaker does it need?
A breaker of no more than 60 A on a 240 V single-phase circuit, with 4 AWG wire and a 60 A minimum circuit ampacity, according to Conforto.
