Quick facts
A 10 kW Lowboy electric furnace to replace a unit of the same format
The Lowboy format, to keep your duct layout
When a house was fitted with a Lowboy furnace, the supply and return ducts were laid out for that format, and switching formats can mean modifying part of the ductwork. The Conforto KLE-01-G010-H3 avoids that detour: it is an electric element furnace in the upflow Lowboy format, 34 1/2 in high and 21 1/2 in wide. Its 20 x 20 in warm air plenum connects to the existing ductwork.
It delivers 10 kW at 240 V, in two 5 kW stages, and moves air with a 1/2 HP Ecotech ECM motor with five speeds. At the factory, the heating speed is set to M-LOW for 0.5 in of water column; we adjust it as needed for your ducts.
A first-generation code: what it means for you
The KLE-01 code refers to the first generation of Conforto’s Lowboy line, while the manufacturer’s current documentation covers the 2nd generation (KLE-02). In practice, we confirm with you the exact data sheet for this code, its availability and the dimensions that are not on the basic sheet, such as cabinet depth, before placing the order. It is the model to choose if you are replacing a KLE-01 like for like or if the space was designed around one.
Electrical and cooling: the figures to know
Conforto’s manual calls for a dedicated 240 V single-phase circuit with a 60 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 60 A and 4 AWG wire. The listed total amperage is 44 A. During the estimate, we look at the free space in the panel before making any recommendation.
The furnace can take central air conditioning with a maximum capacity of 3 tons. If summer heat bothers you, mention it from the start: the coil is planned together with the furnace. An electric furnace sold alone, however, is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Lowboy and a Hiboy?
The KLE Lowboy is a low upflow cabinet: this one is 34 1/2 in high and 21 1/2 in wide. The KHE Hiboy is a taller, narrower cabinet. The choice depends mostly on the layout of your current ducts, which we look at during the estimate.
Why does the code start with KLE-01?
The 01 prefix marks the first generation of Conforto’s Lowboy furnaces; current documents cover the 2nd generation (KLE-02). We confirm the exact data sheet for this code and its availability before ordering.
What electrical circuit does it need?
A 240 V single-phase circuit with a 60 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 60 A and 4 AWG wire, according to Conforto’s manual. We check the room left in your panel during the estimate.
Can central air conditioning be added?
Yes, with a maximum capacity of 3 tons according to Conforto. The coil and outdoor unit are chosen based on the house and the ductwork.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not sold alone: an electric furnace is not a heat pump.
