Quick facts
A 20 kW low-profile furnace that replaces the old one without turning the basement upside down
Who the Conforto KLE-02-G020-03 is for
Many homes in the area still have a low-profile Lowboy furnace that was installed in the basement a long time ago. When it is time to replace it, the same question always comes back: will a new unit fit in the same space and connect to the same ducts? Conforto’s KLE-02-G020-03 was designed for exactly that situation. It is a 20 kW all-electric furnace, 34 1/2 in high, that sends warm air upward, straight into the plenum.
It suits homeowners who want simple central heating, with no outdoor unit for now, while keeping the door open to air conditioning. Its 1/3 HP PSC motor has three speeds, which we set to match your ductwork. Conforto builds it in Canada.
How it fits a Québec home
In the middle of winter, a furnace that starts at full power every cycle heats in bursts. Here, the four 5 kW elements are staged: a 10 kW first stage is enough on mild days, then full power takes over when the cold sets in. The ComfortMax control analyses each cycle and modulates the elements, while the QuietComfort function pre-warms recirculated air at low energy. According to Conforto, you get fewer short cycles and a steadier temperature from one room to the next.
The cabinet is fully insulated and the control board combines redundant high limits, over-voltage and under-voltage protection, and LED diagnostics. A 24 VAC terminal lets you connect an accessory such as a central humidifier, a welcome addition when the air gets dry in January.
Thinking about air conditioning? The furnace accepts a central air conditioner or heat pump coil up to 3.0 tons, on either the supply or the return side. With a heat pump, the elements become the backup heat and also take over during defrost.
What AirGreen’s installation covers
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. A 20 kW furnace needs a serious circuit: Conforto requires a breaker of no more than 125 A and 3 AWG wire. That is why we start with a free on-site estimate to check the panel, the available space and the condition of the ducts.
- removal of the old furnace and placement of the KLE in upflow;
- connection to the plenum and the return air, adapted as needed;
- electrical hookup and thermostat connection, 1 or 2 stage, smart if you wish;
- blower speed setting, temperature rise check and commissioning.
You receive a detailed written quote before work begins, with no surprises about what is included.
Let’s talk about your project
Our crews travel to Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore. Send us a photo of your current furnace and where it sits: it is often enough for a first idea of the work involved.

Replacing a low-profile furnace in the basement
The KLE-02-G020-03 is an all-electric furnace: four 5 kW elements heat the air and a 10 x 8 in blower pushes it into the ductwork. At 34 1/2 in high, it fits where a tall furnace will not.
- Replacing an old Lowboy furnace while keeping the ductwork, if it is in good condition
- Basements with low ceilings where warm air leaves through the top of the unit
- Homes that want all-electric central heating
- Projects that plan a central air conditioner or heat pump up to 3.0 tons

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. An electric furnace is not a heat pump.
- Lowboy format: Conforto requires upflow installation only.
- 240 V, 60 Hz, single-phase power supply. Conforto lists a 110 A minimum circuit ampacity, a 125 A maximum breaker and 3 AWG wire: the panel capacity must be checked.
- Plan room for a unit 21 1/2 in wide, 44 in deep and 34 1/2 in high.
- The cooling or heat pump coil and the outdoor unit are not part of this product.
- 1 disposable 20 x 20 x 1 in filter

Frequently asked questions
What electrical service does it need?
Conforto lists a 240 V single-phase supply, a 110 A minimum circuit ampacity, a 125 A maximum breaker and 3 AWG wire. During the free estimate, we check whether your panel can take it.
Can a central air conditioner or heat pump be added?
Yes. Conforto allows a coil up to 3.0 tons, on the supply or the return side depending on the DIP switch 3 setting. With a heat pump, the elements become the backup heat and also come on during defrost.
Which thermostat should I use?
A 1 or 2 stage 24 VAC thermostat, smart or not. With a single-stage thermostat, the ComfortMax function still modulates the elements cycle by cycle.
Does it qualify for a grant?
No. Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
Can it be installed horizontally?
No. The Lowboy KLE installs in upflow only. If your space calls for another position, we look at Conforto’s Hiboy KHE version with you, which is designed for several positions.
