Quick facts
23 kW in a low-profile format: more heat without changing the footprint
When 20 kW is no longer enough
Some homes need more than a standard-size electric furnace: a house extended over the years, an added storey, or simply a large home where the basement does not have the height for a tall furnace. The Conforto KLE-02-G023-03 answers that exact case. It keeps the 34 1/2 in high Lowboy format, with air leaving through the top, but goes up to 23 kW, or 78,530 BTU/h according to Conforto.
It is a logical choice to replace a low-profile furnace that struggled to keep up during cold snaps, provided the home’s real needs justify it. We always check that point before recommending a size.
Five elements, two stages
More output does not mean heat in bursts. The five elements, rated 5 and 4 kW, come on in stages: the first stage delivers 15 kW, and the rest is added only when the thermostat calls for it. The ComfortMax control analyses each cycle and modulates the elements, and QuietComfort pre-warms recirculated air at low energy to smooth the move from one stage to the next.
The 10 x 8 in blower, driven by a three-speed 1/3 HP PSC motor, is factory set to HIGH for heating. Conforto publishes a 65 to 80 °F temperature rise for this model, a useful reference to confirm the setting at commissioning.
What to plan on the electrical side
A 23 kW furnace connects to a substantial 240 V circuit. Conforto lists a 125 A minimum circuit ampacity, a breaker of no more than 125 A and 2 AWG wire. In an older house, that is often the first thing to check, even before talking about ducts. If you also plan a central air conditioner or heat pump, the furnace accepts a coil up to 3.0 tons, on the supply or the return side.
How we install
A family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. In practice, that means a single team handles the whole project:
- assessment of the heating needs and the electrical service, during a free on-site estimate;
- a written quote that spells out what is included;
- removal of the old furnace, installation of the KLE in upflow and connection to the ducts;
- electrical hookup, 1 or 2 stage thermostat, blower setting and commissioning.

More heat, in the same low-profile format
The KLE-02-G023-03 keeps the 34 1/2 in high Lowboy cabinet, but goes up to 23 kW with five elements. It is aimed at homes whose heating needs go beyond what a 20 kW furnace delivers.
- Larger or extended homes heated through basement ductwork
- Replacing a low-profile furnace that struggled to keep the house warm
- All-electric central heating, with cooling possible up to 3.0 tons
- Basements where the available height does not allow a tall furnace

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. An electric furnace is not a heat pump.
- Dedicated 240 V circuit: Conforto lists a 125 A minimum circuit ampacity, a 125 A maximum breaker and 2 AWG wire. The panel must be able to take it.
- Upflow installation only (Lowboy format).
- Footprint: 21 1/2 x 44 x 34 1/2 in (W x D x H), plus service access.
- The cooling or heat pump coil is not included.
- 1 disposable 20 x 20 x 1 in filter

Frequently asked questions
How do I know 23 kW is the right size?
The output is chosen from the home’s heating needs, not only from the old furnace. We assess them during the free estimate, then recommend the size that fits.
What wiring is needed?
Conforto lists a 94 A total current, a 125 A minimum circuit ampacity, a 125 A maximum breaker and 2 AWG wire, at 240 V single phase.
Does it always heat at full power?
No. It starts with a 15 kW first stage and only adds the other elements when demand justifies it. With a single-stage thermostat, the ComfortMax function modulates the elements cycle by cycle.
Can air conditioning be added?
Yes, with a coil up to 3.0 tons, on the supply or the return side depending on the DIP switch 3 setting.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No. Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump and does not qualify.
