Quick facts
A low-profile furnace ready for your future heat pump
An electric furnace designed for what comes next
You need to replace your basement furnace this winter, but you are already thinking about a central heat pump for next summer? The Conforto KLE-02-G020-H3 fits that two-step plan. It heats the house today with 20 kW of electric elements, in a 34 1/2 in high Lowboy format that sends air out through the top. The day the coil arrives, it is already equipped to receive it.
It is meant for families who want to do things in the right order: first reliable central heating, then air conditioning or a heat pump, without having to replace the furnace a second time.
The ECM motor pays off when a coil is added
A heat pump or air conditioner coil needs a precise airflow. That is where the 1/2 HP ECM (Ecotech) motor makes the difference: five speeds, and up to 1,275 CFM at 0.2 in. w.c. on HIGH. Conforto also publishes the airflow of the MED-HIGH, MEDIUM and MED-LOW speeds, so our technicians can pick the right speed for heating and for cooling, up to 3.0 tons.
The coil can go on the supply or the return side. A simple switch, DIP 3, tells the control where it is.
A Québec winter, with a heat pump and backup elements
When a central heat pump heats the house, the furnace does not disappear: its four 5 kW elements become the backup heat. During defrost cycles, the control turns one or more of them on so the rooms do not get cool air. Without a heat pump, it runs in two stages, with a 10 kW first stage.
It accepts a 1 or 2 stage 24 VAC thermostat, smart thermostats included, and a 24 VAC terminal powers an accessory such as a central humidifier. On the safety side, Conforto provides redundant high limits and over-voltage and under-voltage protection.
AirGreen’s installation, step by step
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. Our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 covers ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work, the three trades this kind of project calls for.
- Free on-site estimate: electrical panel, basement space, condition of the ducts.
- Written quote, with or without the coil and outdoor unit, on your schedule.
- Furnace installed in upflow, connected to a circuit that meets Conforto’s requirements, thermostat wired.
- ECM speed setting and commissioning; if the heat pump comes later, we come back to adjust the settings for the coil.
Your project, at your pace
We work in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore. Tell us where you stand, urgent replacement or planned project, and we build the quote around it.
Book your free estimate and ask us about financing options for the furnace, or for the furnace and heat pump together.
A low-profile furnace that gets the house ready for a heat pump
The KLE-02-G020-H3 heats the house with four 5 kW elements. Its five-speed ECM motor adjusts the airflow to the coil you add, now or later, for a central heat pump or an air conditioner.
- Replacing a basement Lowboy furnace while planning a central heat pump
- Adding central air conditioning up to 3.0 tons on existing ductwork
- Homes that want to keep electric backup heat behind the heat pump
- Basements with low ceilings where warm air leaves through the top of the unit
Specifications

Frequently asked questions
Why choose the ECM motor version?
The 1/2 HP ECM motor has five speeds and moves up to 1,275 CFM at 0.2 in. w.c. That gives more room to set the airflow for a heat pump or air conditioner coil.
What do the elements do once a heat pump is installed?
They become the backup heat. During heat pump defrost, the control turns on one or more elements, depending on the DIP switch 3 setting.
Where does the coil go?
On the supply or the return side, your choice, according to Conforto. The maximum matched cooling capacity is 3.0 tons.
What electrical service does it need?
A 240 V single-phase supply, a 110 A minimum circuit ampacity, a 125 A maximum breaker and 3 AWG wire. We check your panel during the free estimate.
Does the furnace qualify for a grant?
No. Sold alone, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. If you add a heat pump, ask us for a quote on the whole project.
