Quick facts
The largest Conforto Lowboy, to heat and cool a large home
A low-profile furnace built for big spaces
In a large home, the furnace does more than heat: it also has to move a lot of air, through ductwork that is often long, and sometimes serve as the base for a large central air conditioning system. The Conforto KLE-02-G027-05 was designed for that role. At 27 kW, or 92,190 BTU/h according to Conforto, it is the strongest Lowboy in the series, still in a 34 1/2 in high cabinet that blows air out through the top.
It is mainly for homeowners replacing a low-profile furnace in a basement where a tall furnace would not fit, and whose home has high heating needs.
A blower sized for the house
What changes compared with the smaller sizes is the blower: a 12 x 10 in wheel driven by a four-speed 3/4 HP PSC motor. On HIGH, Conforto publishes 1,775 CFM at 0.2 in. w.c. and 1,600 CFM at 0.5 in. w.c. That airflow allows a central air conditioner or heat pump coil up to 5.0 tons, on the supply or the return side.
Heating, for its part, happens in stages. The six elements, three of 5 kW and three of 4 kW, do not all start at once: a 15 kW first stage covers most days, and the rest is added during cold snaps. ComfortMax modulates the elements every cycle and QuietComfort pre-warms recirculated air at low energy.
How it fits your home
A furnace this size needs planning. Conforto requires a 240 V single-phase circuit with a 150 A minimum ampacity, a breaker of no more than 150 A and 1 AWG wire. In many homes, that is a large share of the electrical service capacity: it must be checked before choosing this size. On the safety side, the furnace has redundant high limits, over-voltage and under-voltage protection, and a fully insulated cabinet.
AirGreen’s installation
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. With our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work, we handle the whole job:
- visit and free estimate: heating needs, electrical service, ducts, basement space;
- written quote, with or without cooling;
- replacement of the old furnace, connection to the ducts and electrical hookup;
- 1 or 2 stage thermostat, blower speed selection and commissioning.
Let’s plan your project
We install in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore. The bigger the project, the more it pays to talk about it early.

The Lowboy for large homes
The KLE-02-G027-05 is the strongest Lowboy in this Conforto series: 27 kW of heat and a 12 x 10 in blower that moves up to 1,775 CFM, in a unit 34 1/2 in high.
- Large homes whose heating needs go beyond 23 kW
- Replacing a low-profile basement furnace with an all-electric model
- Projects that pair a large central air conditioning system, up to 5.0 tons
- Duct systems that call for high airflow
Specifications

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. An electric furnace is not a heat pump.
- Heavy-duty hookup: Conforto lists a 150 A minimum circuit ampacity, a 150 A maximum breaker and 1 AWG wire, at 240 V single phase. The home’s electrical service must be able to carry it.
- Upflow only (Lowboy format).
- Footprint: 21 1/2 x 44 x 34 1/2 in (W x D x H).
- The coil and the outdoor unit for cooling or a heat pump are sold separately.
- 1 disposable 20 x 20 x 1 in filter

Frequently asked questions
What electrical service does 27 kW need?
Conforto lists a 114 A total current, a 150 A minimum circuit ampacity, a 150 A maximum breaker and 1 AWG wire, at 240 V single phase. We check the electrical service and the panel during the free estimate.
Can it take a large central air conditioner?
Yes. Conforto allows a coil up to 5.0 tons, on the supply or the return side. The 12 x 10 in blower delivers up to 1,775 CFM at 0.2 in. w.c.
How many speeds does the motor have?
Four, according to Conforto, for this 3/4 HP PSC motor. Heating is factory set to HIGH at 0.5 in. w.c.
Does it always heat at 27 kW?
No. The first stage delivers 15 kW, then the other elements are added as demand requires. The ComfortMax function modulates the elements every cycle.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No. Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump and does not qualify.
