DETTSON thermostats and controls: the right control for your system

Dettson builds furnaces in Sherbrooke, and the controls that go with them. On a Chinook or Supreme running ClimateTalk, the thermostat talks to the equipment over 4 wires. On a conventional 24 V system, the R02P033 adds Wi-Fi. And for the air exchanger, the year it was made decides.

Both connect over 4 wires (ClimateTalk) and have no Wi-Fi. Want phone control? The R02P033 has Wi-Fi, but it wires as a conventional 24 V thermostat, not ClimateTalk. The manuals also name the Alizé heat pump, which Dettson has discontinued.

Without the original invoice, Dettson starts the warranty 90 days after the product left the plant. The policy table has no line for air exchanger controls: their coverage is on quotation. The registration that adds 2 years at Dettson is for GREE units, not these controls.

Rebates: none applies to these five models

Checked on each programme’s own site on October 14, 2026. A heat pump grant doesn’t cover a thermostat.

No Dettson model on the list of certified smart thermostats.

The smart thermostat rebate works from a list of eligible devices: Dettson isn’t on it (April and October 2026 lists).

Hilo

The compatible devices shown are Honeywell Home, Mysa and Sinopé.

Hydro-Québec’s programme covers heat pumps, not thermostats or controls.

What people ask us about Dettson

Is the R02P033 a ClimateTalk thermostat?

No. It’s a conventional 24 V Wi-Fi thermostat: its manual (X00499 Rev. D) describes RC, R, W, Y, G, Y2, W2 and C terminals, with no ClimateTalk. Dettson’s ClimateTalk thermostats are the R02P032 and R02P034.

Which Dettson thermostat has Wi-Fi?

Only the R02P033, with the Smart Life app, Google Home and Amazon Echo. The R02P032 and R02P034 are wired (ClimateTalk) with no Wi-Fi.

How do I know if my system is ClimateTalk?

Check the terminals behind your current thermostat with the power off: four terminals marked R, C, 1 and 2 mean ClimateTalk. Letters such as W, Y, G or O/B mean a conventional system. Otherwise, we check it at the free estimate.

R02P032 or R02P034: which one?

Both are ClimateTalk and handle dual fuel. The R02P032 has a 3.5 in colour screen, humidification from 20 to 50% and dehumidification from 40 to 95%; it’s the one named in the Chinook modulating guide. The R02P034 has an LED touchscreen, a 20 to 100% humidity setpoint and a filter reminder.

How far can the ClimateTalk thermostat be from the furnace?

The R02P034 manual gives 100 feet at most between the thermostat and the indoor unit, over 4 wires.

Which control for my Dettson air exchanger?

It depends on the build year: SA-LT15 for HRVs and ERVs made in 2020 or later, SA-LCD15 for units made from November 2024 on. Before 2020, compatibility is on quotation.

Does the air exchanger come with a wall control?

No. Dettson states that no wall control is included when you buy an air exchanger.

Does the R02P033 control humidity?

No, its manual has no humidity control. For humidity, it’s the R02P032 or R02P034 on a ClimateTalk system.

What warranty comes with a Dettson thermostat?

Under policy X42016 (Rev. AF): 5 years on parts for residential use, 1 year commercial, from installation. Labour isn’t covered. For the SA-LCD15 and SA-LT15 controls: on quotation.

Do I need to register the thermostat?

Dettson’s warranty policy doesn’t ask for registration on these products. The registration that adds 2 years is for GREE units.

Is there a rebate for a Dettson thermostat?

Not as of October 14, 2026: no Dettson model is ENERGY STAR certified or on Énergir’s list, Hilo doesn’t list them, and LogisVert covers heat pumps.
